Part of Thriving Asians’ Youth Mental Health Leadership Programs, the Internship Program trains exceptional students to be mental health leaders, and contribute to development projects uplifting Asian mental health with a national/global reach.

The Internship Program emphasizes professional development - providing opportunities for students to apply lessons learned from school into practice, and gain professional experience & skills aligned with their goals.

Interns contribute to development projects that broadly serve AANHPI and global diaspora communities. Projects range according to organization/community needs and student strengths/interests, inclusive of:

  • Community education & advocacy

  • Stakeholder outreach & engagement

  • Resource development

  • Media creation

  • Community-based research

  • Social entrepreneurship

  • Organizational development

Throughout the program, Interns receive training and mentorship to develop core skills for mental health leadership, and gain insight to interdisciplinary education/career paths in mental health and related fields. Learn more about Training & Mentorship.

Requirements

For the 2025 - 2026 Academic Year cycle (October 2025 - May 2026), the Internship is open to college students.

The ideal Intern is:

  • Self-directed, coachable, proactive

  • Passionate about Asian community and/or mental health advocacy

  • Interested in education & career paths in mental health and/or leadership in related fields

The student must be able to attend virtual:

  • Group Sessions - biweekly Saturdays from 12 - 2 PM ET / 9 - 11 AM PT

  • Mentor Meetings - arranged according to students’ schedules on a monthly basis, or as needed per project/student needs
