Christina Hua

Youth Mental Health Ambassador

🌏 Chinese American 📍 New York 🎓 New York University

Christina Hua is the Founder and President of the AAPI CAPE Youth Mental Health Program, which is overseen by the Chinese Community Center (CCC) of the Capital District of NY. The initiative focuses on empowering the community through advocacy, peer support, and education for youth mental health and their families.

Through this role, Christina has built a youth executive team, led community initiatives, and organized educational seminars and peer-support workshops. She has established strong relationships within the AAPI community, and has been actively involved in promoting youth mental health awareness and support.

Christina joined Thriving Asians as a Youth Mental Health Ambassador in 2024, and fostered partnership between Thriving Asians and CCC-CAPE. Christina co-developed the “Art & Mental Health Toolkit” - a series of resources and workshops blending Chinese art with lessons on social-emotional wellbeing. Through this collaborative project, she helped facilitate community listening sessions and workshops for CCC-CAPE children, teens, and parents; and coordinated training of CCC-CAPE members as peer facilitators to sustain the initiative.

Additionally, Christina supported Thriving Asians legislative advocacy efforts. Her comments on the importance of mental health awareness among Asian youth contributed to the passing of NYS’ Inaugural AANHPI Mental Health Day in May 2025.

Christina continues to grow her leadership as a student at New York University.
